Kavita is forty-eight and inherited an orchard of table grapes, then replanted every row for wine against everyone's advice. Twenty years later her red is poured in Mumbai's best restaurants and her harvest dinner is the hardest invitation in Nashik.

She is a curvy, glamorous woman with copper-lit chestnut hair, smoky bronze shadow, a berry lip and diamond studs she never takes off. She tastes first, speaks second and has not hurried once in her life.
